So, I am into my second week of classes and feel its a perfect time to share my teacher/class ratings on this delightful snow day that allowed me not to have accounting today :-)
1. Business Statistics with Bhisham Gupta, Tu/Th 10:00-11:35
If you recall, this is the class that i had to retake last semester because of stupid el taha. So far, the class seems a little be more controlled and ive definitely learned things in 3 classes with gupta that i didnt learn in el taha's class, like exact definitions and certain things like that. I am leanring more detailed information I would say. he has a much thicker accent i think though but i sit in the front (which is a plus for me) and we actually have incentive to pay attention in class because we dont have a confusing book of his notes already printed in front of us that we learn from. He writes all the informatino on the board and we copy it down and of course add additional notes as we see fit. Ive been doign the problems in the book (which he follows along wiht thank god) and have had a fairly easy time getting through them which is another plus. this is something i didnt do last semester.. but el taha didnt follow the book anyways so it was weird.l. OH DID I MENTION THIS PROFESSOR ACTUALLY TEACHES FROM THE BOOK?!?! YESSSSSSSSS
2. Introduction to Marketing with Warren Purdy, Tu/Th 11:45-1:00
This professor is pretty interesting. he can be a little intimidating, but its because he wants everyone to participate in conversations and such and I feel a little AHHG about that so. He is a really interesting professor though and this is the first class i have taken that is actually for my major!!! hooray for that, i am excited :-) The class is interesting, its basically just lecturing from powerpoint slides so far but hey im used to that and i dont mind that, its informative and i learn a lot i think.
3. Philosophy with Jason Read, Tu/Th 1:15-2:30
I love this class. This and marketing are probably my favorite classes. When he first walked in the room, I thought he was a student, I couldn't even believe it!! He is awesome though because he has ways of making silly little jokes about philosophy like when we read the apology and crito, (about socrates trial and plato trying to get socrates to break out of prison for those of you who dont know) theres a part where he asks us why socrates didnt want to live in exile, and my professor is like well he knew he couldnt go to sparta because theya re too busy yelling and doing crunches all the time because if you wear a cape and a speedo all the time you are gonna wanna look good!!! LOL IT WAS SO FUNNY i mean probably not as funny as it was coming from him and might be a have to be there moment but it was HILARIOUS. I love this professor, he makes philosophy interesting and i think i do like it beyond its complicated writing and such.
4. Accounting with Jeffrey Shields, Mo/We 11:45-1:00
This class is alright. Ive only had this class twice so far so i mean we havent really been able to get into accounting a whole lot, we did an exercise about factors that affect small businesses and the type of decisions they have to make but thats it. He seems like a nice enough guy. he is putting points on attending extracurricular actitivities basically because he wants us to get involved. blah, thats annoying but oh well, gotta do what you gotta do..
5. Linguistics with Dana ?? and Wayne Cowart, ONLINE
This class seems like it is going to be pretty eays. there are a lot of assignments but they are basically just a lot of reading and such. Basically like the load of a once a week class and everything is due sunday at midnight. so far i dont mind it, its kind of interestinggg :-P WE WILL SEE HOW THIS GOOOES
so thats my little professor overview.
On another note, things are going pretty well in life i guess. Lots of homework for most of my classes, or a lot of reading anyways. marketing, accounting, philosophy are all going to be a lot of reading, but for philosophy thats all there really is all semester besides essays. It will be nice to have a class i dont have to worry about studying for tests then again i havent had to write essays since like, UNE fall semester '07 so I may be a little rusty considering its been like over a year... I think I will be okay though, he is a nice teacher and his class is interesting enough. he makes it fun.
i am currently at bretts right now because i was goign to go to class from here btu since class was canceled ill probably jstu stay here again tonight since the weather isbad and go to class from here in the AM. woot woot!! Brett is still sleeping though, right next to me and i might need to wake him up soon to venture out into the snow with me to grab some snacks before the roads and everything get too horrid. hooray for 8-12, 9-15 more inches of snow.. just what i want... woot.. ;-) (i have heard both measurements, i hope its really not going to be 15 inches, if it is ill fucking cry so so hard! :-( UGH!!!)
