My return from fallilng off the face of the Earth..

Goodness me, I havent updated in forever.. I happen to have a few spare minutes this morning before my day turns absolutely awesomely insane but crazy busy!! :-)

Obviously my summer semester has came and gone.  I ended up getting a B+ in marketing management, a A- in my religion course and an A- in my anthropology course, so Overall, I was thrilled with my grades.  Not so much the B+ and I thought I had done better than that, but I'll take it.

So, school has obviously started again for the fall semester as well.  One month into the semester, roughly 2.5 to go before its done... yay.. ;)  Classes are actually going alright this semester, lots of work though and tons of stuff to be doing constantly (which isnt so fun).

Here is a brief run down of classes and my rating of how theyare:

BUS365 - Consumer Behavior --> This is actually one of my favorite classes, possibly because it is a specific course towards my major.  I absolutely love it. The professor, Johnny Chen, is new this year and he is somewhat dry but the information is extremely interesting.  I think it is his first year teaching so I am chalking some up to nerves.  He is definitely becoming more laid back, interesting, and fun as the semester progresses and he gets to know us as students.  So overall, I really love this class.  It is probably my favorite class this semester, actually.  EVEN THOUGH I ABSOLUTELY HATE that is happens to be MW 845-1000.  Whoever decided classes needed to start so early must be an insomniac or something who doesnt sleep anyways so 845 is no big deal to be awake.

BUS361 - International Marketing -->  I have actually had this professor previously, Bob Heiser.  I took marketing research with him last semester.  Although, I can't lie, Marketing research has proven to be a bit more itneresting than international marketing.  However, he never takes attendance and doesnt really care if you are there or not, and I think my realization of this for this semester has somewhat played into my opinion of the course.  I have definitely already skipped class on wednesday twice.  On mondays, we venture to the computer lab to use a simulation program called Country manager, where you have to enter a new country with a new product (we are currently attemping to enter with toothpaste) and you have to determine a lot of different factors when introducing the new product.  Ie. how much advertising, what type will you sell, what size, what market are you targeting to, etc.  It is actually really cool, hence why I have only missed Wednesdays, which happen to be lecture days.  His tests (which we got out first one the other day) are answer 5 out of 7 essay questions, take as long as you need and use as much information and resources as you want (just site it) and you have one week to submit it.  LOL.  It is awesome.

BUS370 - Operations Management -->  This is also another new professor this year, Matthew Dean.  He is actually pretty relaxed and his tests so far have been pretty easy for the most part.  I definitely know what I need to study for the next class, anyways ;).  This class is somewhat math based, but not entirely (which is good because I hate math and I am already taking a stats/math class which i will discuss next), thank god.  He is a pretty cool guy though and is willing to help you out when you have questions.  I got an 85 on my first exam which as like the second highest grade in the class, so I was pleased with that.

BUS375 - Management science --> AKA hell class.  As referred to by even my professor.. YAY... this is the math/stats class I just mentioned.  My professor is really young but ridiculously enthusiastic about statistics, I have no idea how, but she absolutely loves it.  We cover five topics: Decision Analysis, Forecasting, Queing Theory, Linear Regression................... and one other one (i think, i might have messed one up, oh well!)  We have to do group case studies with each topic as well.  So far, we have completed our decision analysis case and were assigned our forecasting case this past tuesday, which is due this coming tuesday.  Typically, you put roughly 30 hours in per case has been the average that most groups have come up with.  I mean really, it is a lot of work, but if you know what you are doing and you pay attention and see the tutors, it does make a big difference.  we were all thrilled because we got a 90 on the first case, the highest grade being a 92, the lowest being a 69, with the average being somewhere around 82-84 I believe.  So, Everyone says the cases get harder as you go, but forecasting is going pretty smoothly for me so thats a good sign anyways, for now! As nerdy as this sounds.. I kind of actually LIKE forecasting.  You know school owns your life when you can consider something like forecasting fun, LOL.. Brett says its good cause it means im in the right field ;) hahah.. oh he must be right.. ;).. lol.. Cases also are 12% of our grade each, equaling out to 60% while the final is 15% and class participation is 25%.  Can I just mention how much i HATE participation and talking out in class? AHG.

BUS450 - Business management and Policy -->  This is my online class this semester, which has actually been fun but has proven to be a lot of work and very tedious work at that.  However, grades have been good so far (got an A on the first exam).  We have weekly chapter quizzes, each worth 20 points.  We also have to participate in discussion forums on weekly cases that go along with the chapter we just read.  Discussion in total is worth 5 points per week.  I actually just took the second exam, which is due 10/7.  yay for me. ;) lol.  It is not a bad class its just a lot of work.

So, that covers my classes.  They really aren't too bad, just very heavy workload, although there are definitely some that I can slack in a little bit, which makes my life easier when Management Science and Business management and policy pretty much own my life.

Since its been forever since i updated my reading selection adn i had all summer to read, im going to make another post with my reading material.  :) and ill probably have to finish it .later because i doubt i have time to cover all the books i read in the short span of me waiting for brett to get home

BECAUSE.  WE MOVE TODAY. TO PORTLAND.  AHGG SO EXCITEDDDDD <3<3<3
